Learn to fish the Tweed
Spey Casting and Salmon Fishing Course
Is catching a Scottish salmon on your bucket list of things to try?!! Our courses are aimed at people of all ages wanting to try fly fishing for the first time or those who are still at the beginning of their journey to fly fish for salmon. Our courses will help you understand safely the principles of the Speycast using double handed rods.
On our Fly Fishing Experience course the emphasis is on teaching and good practice but as we are teaching on the river there is always the chance of a fish. As you progress with your learning, our full time ghillies will take your new found skills out and try and tempt a salmon to grab your fly.
Courses start from £255 per person

Just turn up with some sensible clothing, a hat or cap, and sunglasses for protection. Please bring your own lunch — cooking and BBQ facilities are available at the fishing hut. Gratuities are not included in the price. The beat provides Loop-branded equipment for these courses; if you prefer your own equipment, feel free to bring it along. Waders can be provided for use.
There is no guarantee of catching a fish, and any salmon caught before 1 July need to be returned to the water by order of the Tweed Commissioners. Weather conditions may mean that fishing cannot occur — invariably for the safety of the rods and the ghillies. The Head Ghillie's decision will be final in such matters and no refund can be offered if fishing does not take place.
